If you've never heard of scratch before you are definitely missing out! Scratch explains itself to be "a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations". I've never heard about it until my professor made us all create an account and explore Scratch. At first I though it would just be an online drawing tool, like a much more advanced version on Microsoft's Paint application. I soon learned that it was much more.
When we first logged into our accounts we were told to explore and play with Scratch, to my surprise there weren't just animated drawings... there were games, moving images, and interactive drawings created by people all over the world, especially by young kids! Of course I wanted to get started right away.

We first began by exploring the inside of one of our professors scratch creations. I learned how to make an image of cat move around in all different directions at different speeds, and how to make it loop. Next we created our own little animation by drawing it on the computer and making it move.

I of course went with a puppy, and make its head tilt. It was a bit stressful at first because I am so picky with details and getting everything right, but I remembered it was only my first time and I just had to have fun with it. After creating our animations we showed them to the class, and oh my goodness everyone's was so good!! I can't imagine what children in elementary and middle school would come up with since they have such creative minds! If a bunch of tired college students in an 8am could make these wonderful creations, young kids who are eager and excited to learn could make masterpieces while learning about different functions of the computer and how it works.
